The System
“The haves and have-nots can often be traced back to did and did-nots.”…D.O. Flynn
Answers for where you start: (From the book “The Laws of Attraction Marketing”, by Joe Villeneuve)
- What do I do first? Start with deciding what your market is? This may seem obvious to you before you start, but remember, this is the digital age and your market can now be much larger than what your current market is.
- Develop your business website and blog? Use the many options available for designing and updating websites and blogs.
- Start learning more about what you are going to be doing from some of the better online marketing gurus. Yes, they do know what they are doing and this education will be some of the most important money you will spend. Don’t be cheap here. You wouldn’t expect to become an expert in your field without the same applied education would you? Why would you expect anything less regarding education about marketing your business? You’ll find the cost is really cheap too.
- Start applying your knowledge. If you’re going to learn how, then use it. This book is a great start, but it is only a start. My education on these topics never ends, because the playing field is always changing thanks to the digital age. We’re in the 21st century now. Think, and act accordingly.
- Don’t stop learning. Read again number 4 above.
- Develop your professional Social Media sites. This is your professional resume’ or CV. You can expand these sites into webpages if you want, but you’ll find an actual website, or using a blog as a great substitute, is much better. Use the Social Media profiles as resume’s of you for the discussion groups on those S.M. sites. Link from these SM resume’s to your website/blogs. This way, you are only updating one site with links to it.
- Participate in the SM discussions. Once you get comfortable in how to do this right, you will find these simple discussion group posts can provide a very large draw to your website/blog. By the way, when asked how many followers I have on my SM sites I give the same answer, “I don’t know…and I don’t care”. SM site followers are glorified groupies, and have very little to do with potential clients. Discussion groups contain thousands of potential clients waiting to be presented to. Where would you rather be?
- Expand and update your website/blog. Keep updating your website and blog with new info and samples of your work. This is not only your updated (regularly) brochure, but your main presentation tool. All the media options you have available to you can be linked to and from this site.
- Add Affiliate links to your website and blog. While you’re waiting for the marketing to develop your leads, you can be making money passively through the use of Affiliate programs. When your marketing starts to take hold, the increased traffic to your sites will increase the value, as in income, of these affiliate programs even more.
- Write a book. Get published. Nothing adds more to your professional credibility than being published. So write and publish a book. It’s easier than you might think.
- Write articles. Do this after your write your book since you can enhance your expertise in your articles by referring to your book. The articles you write and publish are spread throughout the internet on sites where people are looking for content for their sites. It’s free for them, and it’s free for you. Embed links back to your sites from the articles and you have a network of capture pages that others have built for you.
- Start expanding your marketing into video and even Internet TV. These are great programs, but should be used only after the other steps are used since the first steps of the system will provide the verification of your expertise that is needed for your credibility on video and TV.
